Mid America Motorworks is now offering the D.U.I.-Davis Unified Ignition for VW Type 1 Motors. The D.U.I. is a one-piece, one wire distributor. The D.U.I., which is fully electronic, eliminates the hassles of changing points and makes for a much cleaner installation. The 50,000 volt coil, which is inside the cap, allows you to open up your plug gaps to .055". This burns your fuel more completely. The Dyna-module, which is located inside the distributor, has more electronic dwell time built in allowing the coil to saturate longer sending a massive spark to your plugs. A heavy duty cap and rotor with brass terminals insure maximum conductivity. The dialed in advance curve provides you with instant throttle response and prevents engine damaging detonation.
To be used alongside of the D.U.I is our revolutionary type of Spark Plug Wires. The "Live Wires" come with a space age, heat resistant sleeving to provide the best protection from headers and manifold heat. Approximately 1/2" in diameter, the Live Wires look as good as they perform. The sleeving provides protection from -76 degrees to +1400 degrees! The wires are custom fit for your engine-no assembly required. For your convenience, each end of the wire is numbered to correspond to the correct cylinder. Spiral winding prevents electronic interference. Heat shrink is applied between the boot and sleeving to keep dirt and moisture away from the wire terminals. Available in Red, Blue, Black, Yellow or Purple.
Note: Special Live Wires (Spark Plug Wires) are designed to be used with this D.U.I distributor. They lack the coil wire that is needed for OEM distributors.See Parts You Will Need tab for ordering.
