1958-1964 Beetle Convertible Front Wood Header Bow
Our 1958-1964 VW Beetle Convertible Front Header bows are made from solid hardwood just like the originals through 1967 and much better than the particle board bows used on the 1968-1972 models.
Our header bows are milled from kiln dried marine grade, rot and warp resistant solid hardwood. Our other wood bows are made from veneer mahogany using marine grade boat glue, all manufactured by true craftsmen.

WOOD BOWS
We offer wood bows, also known as tackstrips, for the VW Beetle and Karmann Ghia. These bows are essentials in installing a Volkswagen convertible top. Original chassis clips are used to assure quality and correct fit of each bow. Each bow is test fitted to the proper chassis section, thus assuring minimal 'fuss' when installing your top bows.
Our wood Volkswagen convertible top bows are made with the highest grade, kiln-dried hardwoods. This wood helps insure that these bows for your Classic VW Convertible are durable and flawless.
Real wood bows will accept stapling without the risk of chipping and cracking. They were the choice at the factory and will give your Vintage Convertible the correct look, feel and “smell”.
Only the best industrial grade cascamite marine glues is used in our wood bows to assure long term functionality over the elements and time.
In addition, modern industrial vacuum pressing for lamination is used wherever feasible (such as in the highly curved rear top bows and window inserts) where structural integrity would be compromised with 'home workshop' methods and materials.
Synthetic Convertible Top Bows
Synthetic bows are made in predesigned precision molds. The cost of manufacturing is greatly reduced and provides a very economical alternative to wood bows. Durable synthetic bows are made of reinforced urethane and will last a lifetime. Synthetic bows are harder than wood bows and more time is need when stapling or screwing top fabrics to bow and can at times chip when the staple is driven into the bow.
