On the Bay Window, the filling of the brake fluid reservoir was changed from directly on the master cylinder to a separate filling reservoir that can be filled or refilled from the cab. This filler tank is connected to the closed master cylinder tank.
1968 Brake fluid upper reservoir, fits under the dash on a 1968 only model year. This brake fluid reservoir is located at the nose panel inside the cabin of VW Type-2 Bus (Bay Window) from 1968. The plastic canister is connected to the actual brake fluid reservoir on the master brake cylinder via a hose. Safety Notice: Brake fluid leaks must be avoided, as it is a very aggressive fluid. If your filler reservoir begins to show cracks, replace it and check the reservoir hose on your master cylinder immediately.
