There is an additional charge of $185 per LCD panel should any of them need replaced.

Instructions for sending your Corvette Instrument Gauge Cluster to us for restoration.

Pack your gauge cluster very well in order to prevent damage in shipping. We recommend wrapping the gauge cluster tightly with plenty of bubble wrap and to use a good quality box that has at least 3" of bubble wrap on each side, top and bottom. USPS, UPS,  Fed EX all offer fresh new boxes for either free or for a charge. We notice most of our gauge cluster restorations come in using USPS since they are so convenient in almost every town. We recommend that you insure your gauge cluster for $900 in case it gets damaged during the shipment to us.

Please write: "Attention Restoration Department" on the outside of the box.

Once we receive your gauge cluster, we will contact you and provide an initial price assessment including return shipping and secure billing information. Please note that additional charges may apply depending on the condition of your gauge cluster. Some of these potential extra charges won’t be determined until the gauge cluster is opened up and fully tested. Mid America Motorworks will notify you ahead of time to get your approval before any additional work is carried out. Expect to see your restored gauge cluster back in your hands in 6-8 weeks.

NOTE: Please provide the following information when you send in your restoration.

  • Year of Corvette and VIN Number
  • Phone # to reach you (we will contact you for billing information)

Removal Procedure

1984-1989 Corvette Instrument Cluster

Step #1. Lower the steering wheel to the lowest position. Remove the tilt lever by turning counter clockwise.

Step #2. Cover the top of the steering column, next to the IP, with some strips of 2-inch masking tape across the dash panel below the cluster bezel to protect the dash plastic.

Step #3. Remove the head light switch knob by pushing a small screwdriver rearward in the knob's slot. The shaft will stay in the head light switch.

Step #4. Remove the Phillips screws holding the radio control dash bezel and set the bezel to the side.

Step #5. Remove the three Phillips screws holding the cluster bezel to the left outer IP.

Step #6. Remove the Phillips screws holding the cluster bezel to the IP and set the bezel to the side.

Step #7. Remove the three Phillips screws holding the IP carrier to the IP pad. These screws are pointed upward in front of the top cluster's edge.

Step #8. Remove the two vertical Phillips screws holding the center IP to the IP Pad.

Step #9. Place a 1 1/2 inch block between the IP carrier and the IP pad in the center IP above the radio. This releases any pressure on the cluster for easier cluster removal.

Step #10. Remove the four 7mm headed screws holding the cluster to the IP carrier--two above the steering column and one on each top cluster corner.

Your C4 1984-1989 Corvette Instrument Cluster in now ready to be removed.

Step #11. Gently tilt the cluster’s top rearward and to the left, clearing the steering column.

Step #12. Locate the cluster’s two connectors. Pull on the connectors, then take a screwdriver and place under the tab to unlock the connector’s lock.

You should hear a click sound. Un-plug the connectors and remove the cluster.
