1976-1982 C3 Rear Trailing Arm Upper Bumper - Rubber Stopper - 483746 - OEM Number(s) (483746)

Prevent rear suspension over-compression with this correct reproduction trailing arm bumper for your 1976–1982 Corvette. Installed on the frame just above the rear trailing arm, this rubber bumper stop limits travel and helps absorb harsh impact under extreme suspension loads—especially important if you're running wider-than-stock tires. Whether you're refreshing your C3 suspension or replacing a missing or damaged bumper, this part helps preserve safety and ride quality.

Features
• Fits all 1976–1982 C3 Corvettes
• Reproduction of GM original part number 483746
• Durable rubber body with internal steel reinforcement
• Includes nut and bolt for frame mounting
• Sold Individually - Two required per Corvette

Tech Notes
• Positioned on frame above each trailing arm
• Prevents tires from contacting fender wells during full compression

Because Details Matter
In Corvette suspension systems, even small components like bump stops serve a critical role in performance and protection. This rubber bumper maintains correct travel limits while helping your C3 Corvette retain its original ride behavior and safety margin.

Installation Instructions

1976–1982 Corvette Rear Trailing Arm Upper Rubber Bumper

GM Part Number: 483746

Mid America Motorworks Part #: 602802

Required Tools:

• 3/8" or 1/2" drive ratchet

• 9/16" socket and open-end wrench

• Torque wrench (recommended)

• Jack and jack stands (or lift)

• Penetrating lubricant (if bolts are corroded)

Step 1 – Safety First Park your Corvette on a level surface. Set the parking brake and block the front wheels. Raise the rear of the car using a jack and support it securely on jack stands placed under the frame rails. Never work under an unsupported vehicle.

Step 2 – Locate the Mounting Point Locate the rear trailing arm upper bumper bracket on the inside of the rear frame rail, just above the trailing arm. The original bumper is mounted to this bracket with a bolt and nut.

Step 3 – Remove the Old Bumper If replacing an original or damaged bumper: - Spray the nut and bolt with penetrating lubricant and allow it to soak. - Use a 9/16" wrench and socket to remove the hardware. - Discard the old bumper and any rusted or deformed hardware.

Step 4 – Inspect the Bracket Check the bracket for corrosion or damage. Clean the surface to ensure a flat, secure mount.

Step 5 – Install the New Bumper Position the new bumper and insert the supplied bolt through the bracket and bumper. Secure with the included nut. Torque Spec: Tighten to 25–30 ft-lbs.

Step 6 – Repeat on Opposite Side Repeat for the second bumper on the opposite side. Two are required per Corvette.

Step 7 – Final Check Lower the vehicle and remove jack stands. Verify proper bumper positioning and trailing arm clearance.
