UNDER THE STRAW HAT – Restorer’s Insight
EEC (Evaporation Emission Control) tanks became standard in 1970 to meet tightening emission regulations. Tanks with both LH and RH ports are not interchangeable with earlier non-EEC styles. Correct indents and port orientation are essential for show-accurate restorations and functional plumbing alignment.

Tech Notes
Many Corvettes have had fuel system swaps over the years. Always check your current tank before ordering to ensure the correct configuration—especially when matching EEC plumbing or verifying bracket placement for the vapor valve.

Tank Prep Tip – Read Before Installation!
All tanks are coated internally with a rust inhibitor preservative. This must be removed to avoid contamination:
     • Seal openings with rags and tape
     • Add Carburetor Cleaner, Acetone, or MEK
     • Add nuts/bolts and shake to break down lining
     • Drain and repeat until fluid runs clear
     • Dry thoroughly before install
