1963 Over REV Buzzer Warning Wiring Harness

Our 1963 Corvette Over REV Warning Harness is for Early 1963 Corvettes with RPO L-76 or RPO  L-84 Engines. The Over REV Warning system consisted of a separate tachometer feature that would sound a buzzer when the engines RPM's exceeded a specific factory setting.

Our Original Design Series™ wiring harnesses are manufactured exactly as the wiring was made when your vehicle left the factory in St. Louis. These harnesses are made to the exact O.E.M. (original equipment manufacturer) specifications, using the original factory blueprints, and are factory-correct in every way. These are full-assembled, ready to install, “plug & play” accurate reproduction wiring harnesses. You will NOT have to cut any wires, crimp any terminals, or make any modifications to these harnesses when installing them in your 1963 Corvette.

A commonly asked question and a much needed answer is "What does this harness" connect to?

What determines early and late 1963 for a Tach Buzzer?

The Over Rev Buzzer Warning System came as standard equipment on early 1963 Corvettes with RPO L-76 340 HP and L-84 360 HP hi-performance engines.

To protect the engine from being over rev'd, this system would sound a buzzer when the engine's RPMs exceeded a predetermined factory setting.

The system consisted of a separate wiring harness and a special tachometer that included a buzzer.

This system was soon discontinued by GM when they realized that the buzzer was not audible at high vehicle speeds. However, the visual warning (red zone) on the tachometer would remain.

Generally accepted as a late December or early January running production change, or in the area of VIN # 4982 - 9465.
