What is the correct  1963 Corvette Fuel Filler Door to use on my 1963?

1963 Corvette Production used two different styles of Fuel Filler Doors. The 1sts Design used what is referred to as a roller latch. The 2nd and final design used a Tongue Latch made of nylon.

According to records, the 1st design was used up to about VIN Number 16,550. The next 2,000 Corvettes produced appear to have had the random use of the early and late fuel filler door.

Assembly Manual notes determine that on June 25, 1963 the second design entered production full time and that would equate to approximately VIN Number 18,200.

VIN Number 00,001 - 16,550 Early Roller Latch

VIN Number 16,501 - 18,500 Assume Mixed use of Early and 2nd Design

VIN Number 18,500 - 21,513 use 2nd Design Latch
