1956-1957 Fuel Tank Non-Vented with Internal Baffles

This 16 Gallon (60 Liters) capacity Corvette Fuel Tank is a direct replacement for 1956-Early 1957 (Serial # 1420 & earlier) Corvettes. Unit is non-vented as original and features the added benefit of later style internal baffles. GM did not begin using baffles in their fuel tanks until May 1960 in response to issues of excess fuel sloshing in the tank causing fuel odor & spillage while driving.

Our 1956-Early 1957 Corvette Fuel Tank measures 42" x 14-7/8" x 9-1/2" and includes correct LO40 lock ring and rubber O-ring for sending unit installation. This tank is not an exact reproduction of the original equipment and does not include the "O.L. Anderson" logo stamped on the top side.

  • Fits 1956-Early 1957 (Serial #1420 & Earlier)
  • Includes O-ring & Lock for Sending Unit
  • Non-vented as Original
  • Features Later Style Internal Baffles

Important Tech Note !

All fuel tanks are manufactured with a sprayed-on interior rust inhibitor.  This lining must be removed prior to the installation of your new tank.  Failure to do so could cause your carburetor or fuel injection to clog up when gasoline dissolves the preservative and it passes into your vehicle’s fuel system.

Here is the method we employ to prep a fuel tank prior to installation:

•    Close off tank openings with rags and duct tape
•    Add a cleaner such as Carburetor Cleaner, Acetone, or MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone)
•    Caution – No Smoking or Open Flames nearby.
•    Add some small metal parts such as nuts, bolts or washers, then shake and rotate tank.  This causes the preservative to break down and dissolve.
•    Pour out and repeat until the cleaner drains out clear.  Dispose of the used cleaner properly.
•    Remove rags, tape and metal parts.  Allow tank to dry and your tank is ready for installation.
