Exterior Detailing: Part 2 in a 2 Part Series About MWorks Car Care Products

There’s nothing better than driving a freshly cleaned Corvette, right? Having a clean exterior is only half of the battle! If you’re the adventurous type – or if you just like a nice Corvette interior – get ready to learn the ins and outs of Interior Detailing!

The Basics of Interior Detailing

There’s nothing better than feeling the same way about your interior as your paint and exterior! Let’s take a look at what it will take to maintain a factory fresh interior.

Leather Care

Caring for your leather can be an easy task with the right tools. When caring for your leather, there are some factors to take into account; ask yourself a few questions before starting:

  • Is my leather simply dirty?
  • Is my leather dried out?
  • Are there any cracks in my leather?
  • Do I have everything I need to start caring for my leather?

Once you have answered these questions, it’s time to take a look at the tools you will need to properly handle it. Let’s go over the steps in order for the most optimal results for leather care.

Stage 1

The light conditioner in Leather Detailer works into your leather to keep soft and fresh by hydrating the pores of the leather. All that needs to be done is to spray the area of leather you are working on, allow it to set in for a few seconds and wipe it away. As you are wiping, the conditioner in the formula is being worked in further to refresh the leather and you are removing all of the contaminants sitting on the surface.

Stage 2

Now that your leather has been cleaned, it’s time to learn how to maintain a fresh feel. Using Leather Detailer from MWorks, you can quickly and easily maintain the soft, fresh feel of your leather. Leather Detailer is equal parts conditioner and cleaner. It is always best to use Interior Shampoo prior to Leather Detailer for the strongest results from the conditioner. Using Leather Detailer anytime you use Interior Shampoo is an easy way to maintain your leather.

Stage 3

This stage is the final step to truly reviving/maintaining your leather. Apply a light coat of Leather Conditioner. Leather Conditioner is simply a full conditioner that moisturizes and softens your leather. This step only really needs to be done two, maybe three, times a month to keep your leather as soft and fresh as the day it was installed. Leather Conditioner works in deep to moisturize your leather to ensure that it stays soft and smooth.

Apply the conditioner to an applicator pad or sponge and work it into your leather in light, even strokes in the same direction to achieve maximum coverage. Allow the conditioner to set in and leave it to dry. You may wipe away any excess if you wish. After application, the seats may feel slightly wet to the touch, so plan on applying the conditioner when you’ll have time to allow it to set in.

Vinyl Care

Vinyl care is basically a walk in the park! Vinyl doesn’t quite age the same as leather, but you can run into the same problems. Vinyl can dry out just like leather, but there are simple steps you can take to avoid this. Let’s take a look:

Cleaning

The easiest way to maintain your vinyl is regular cleaning with Interior Shampoo. Pulling the contaminants out of the deeper surfaces will help keep your vinyl fresh. Simply treat your vinyl with the formula by spraying it directly onto the vinyl and wiping it off, or spraying directly onto your microfiber towel and working it into the vinyl. Both methods are equally effective, it’s simply your preference of how you’d like to care for your vinyl.

Conditioning

The most common problem you can run into with vinyl is fading—and even cracking—from sun damage. This can be easy to avoid with the right protection. Trim Dressing is a formula that can be used on interior and exterior vinyl, rubber and plastic surfaces to revive the look and feel, as well as provide excellent UV protection.

Simply apply the dressing to a sponge and work it into the vinyl in smooth, even strokes and allow it to set in. The dressing is silicone based and will leave a glossy sheen when applied. If you leave the dressing to set in, you will receive a high gloss finish to your vinyl. For a low luster finish, apply the dressing and allow it to soak in for a short period, then wipe off the excess dressing on the surface.

The application of this dressing will certainly leave behind a superior UV protective coat that will keep your vinyl fresh and safe from harmful UV rays. For the best results, use Trim Dressing after thoroughly cleaning your vinyl with Interior Shampoo. This same regiment of Interior Shampoo and Trim Dressing is also a great way to maintain a clean and sharp looking dash. These products can be used on any interior and exterior rubber, plastic, and vinyl pieces.

Dash And Vents

Combine our Interior Shampoo with our vent and dash brush to easily get into all of the small cracks and crevices of your Corvette’s interior. The small end will reach into the smaller areas and the larger end with the duster is great for quickly wiping away any dust and dirt that may find its way on to your dash.

Carpet Care

Now that your seats, dash and other trim pieces have been cleaned and cared for, it’s time to take a look down at your footwell. No matter how hard you may try, you will run into carpet stains at one point or another. The good news is, we have the answers for these problems as well. Maybe you just bought a used Corvette, or you accidentally spilled something while working on your interior, or you’ve simply tracked something in on your shoes. Whatever the source, we have just what you’re looking for to rid your Corvette of any stains.

Remember Interior Shampoo? By spraying the solution on any stains and allowing it to soak in and foam, you are effectively breaking up the contaminants that hold that stubborn stain together. Now that the stain has been weakened by the formula, it’s time to agitate the area with our carpet cleaning brush to rid your Corvette of unsightly carpet stains.

Some stains can be a bit more difficult to remove. If you find yourself battling a stubborn one, spray Interior Shampoo on it and allow it to set in and foam for a couple minutes, then apply one more light spray before scrubbing it again with the brush. This may even need to be repeated a couple times before it is fully removed.
