Corvette Funfest 2004
Shatters Records
Best Ever "Customer Appreciation Party"
Corvette Funfest 2004, Mid
America Motorworks' annual "customer appreciation party" shattered all previous
participation records. This year’s three-day Funfest drew 10,692 Corvettes of
every year and color. Attendance was estimated at 45,000 people. The previous
records, set at last year's Funfest were 8,200 Corvettes and an estimated 35,000
people.
"We extended Funfest to a
three-day party this year because we wanted to do more for our customers," said
Mike Yager, president and "Chief Cheerleader" of Mid America Motorworks. "The
response was amazing, beyond what we expected."
Since last year's Funfest, Mid America Motorworks acquired 90 acres of land
adjacent to the company’s headquarters. The additional land was put to good use
handling the large number of attendees and exhibitors.
"We had more displays, more
vendors, more seminars, more of everything this year," said Yager. "Our land
acquisition gave us the space we needed to comfortably accommodate the record
number of cars and people at Funfest."
Among the special displays at
this year’s Funfest were:
-
10 new C6 Corvettes on a
hauler from the Bowling Green plant.
-
A display of C6 Corvettes
staffed by Corvette engineers who explained the new features of the ’05
Corvette and answered questions about the car.
-
Two, new, highly, modified
Corvettes from Callaway, Inc.
-
High performance Corvettes
from Mallett Cars, Ltd.
-
Goodyear Tires and Mobil 1
Oil both had large semi-truck displays.
-
ACDelco conducted a
special seminar and had a large display on modern automotive electronics.
-
The first ever art show at
Corvette Funfest.
-
"Center Stage" parking of
Corvettes that matched Mid America Motorworks new corporate colors of red,
black and silver.
All center stage parking fees
were donated to the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation. In addition to the Center
Stage fees, Mid America Motorworks also made a contribution to the foundation.
At the close of Funfest, Yager presented a $10,000 check to Lance Miller, Chip’s
son, for the foundation.
"Corvette enthusiasts from
across the country joined us to make Funfest 2004 the best Funfest ever. We are
already working to make Funfest 2005 even better," said Yager. |
