How Many Quarts Does It Take To Change the Oil on a LT5 Engine?
LT5 engines came with 12 quarts of oil from the factory. When you go to check or change the oil, you should let the car sit for 1.5 hours. It only takes 8.6 quarts with a filter in an oil change. There is that much oil retained in the motor that does not drain out, otherwise it will be incorrect and one quart off. If you don't wait for at least one hour, you will have an overfill condition.
