Tech Fact: Functioning Corvette Parking Brakes have saved two of my Corvettes from damage. My 1965 Coupe brakes failed at 55 mph on a busy highway, when a brake line blew out. I was able to make a safe stop with the Parking Brake. A few years ago, my 1963 FI Convertible's main brake line ruptured as I was backing out of a building. The functioning Parking Brake stopped it a few feet before it would have hit a forklift.
