| Mid America offers a wide variety of products designed to improve the engine performance for the computer controlled Corvettes. Frequently, we're asked to offer our opinions on the best method(s) to achieve certain performance oriented goals. In theory, you simply need to improve the air/fuel delivery to the combustion chamber while limiting the operating temperature to the lowest level possible. You must ignite this charge with the hottest and most accurately timed spark possible, and then remove the waste gasses through a low restriction exhaust system that has a great sound. How you choose to make these improvements may vary. Any of the products talked about here, will provide an improvement to the specific system for which it is designed, and are often more effective when combined with modifications to associated systems. Without making corrections to the engine management programming, most bolt-on modifications never realize their full potential. That would put the Performance Chip, or Power Programmer at the top of the "things to do" list. Improved air filter elements are also a must. Humidity and moisture in the air cause even a new factory-type paper element to swell and become more restrictive. K & N filters are an investment in engine longevity as well as a performance enhancement. The modified Corvette MAF sensor is another effective upgrade. Many other improvements to the induction are often limited by the restrictive stock MAF sensor. For the L98 and LT1 Corvettes, the Throttle Body Flow Booster may be the single most effective product, considering its cost. Having the correct fuel pressure is critical to maximum engine performance. Adjustments to the fuel pressure are impossible with the orignal equipment regulator cover. The Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulators and covers we provide allow you to dial in the pressure to the optimum level. The exhaust system is another aspect that must be improved to allow other modifications to perform to their maximum potential. Given the variety of the systems we offer, and the personal preference in sound and appearance involved, we'll leave the choice to you.
