VW Beetles (or Bugs) are known as Type 1's and were made from 1947-1977. (Doesn't count Mexican Bugs)

VW Super Beetles are known as Type 1's and were made from 1971-1980.

Volkswagen Karmann Ghias are known as Type 1's and were made from 1956-1974.

Volkswagen Type 3's were made from 1961-1974 and can be called Notchbacks, Squarebacks, or Fastbacks.

VW Buses or Transporters are known as Type 2's and were made from 1950-1979.

Volkswagen Thing's are also known as Type 1's and were made from 1973-1974.

Volkswagen New Beetle's have been made from 1998 to the present.
