Grain: A texture or pattern debossed* into leather or vinyl to give a certain appearance. Listed below are the names and year ranges for Corvette interiors.

• Moroccan Grain was used for 1953-57 Corvette interior fabrics.
• Pebble Grain was used for 1958 Corvette interior fabric fabrics.
• Seville Grain was used for 1959-1964 Corvette interior fabric fabrics.
• Madrid Grain was used in 1965-1975 Corvette interior fabric fabrics
• Pigskin Grain was used on 1967 Seat Inserts only.
• Wallaby Grain was used for 1976-1978 Corvette interior fabrics.
• Sierra Grain was used on 1979-1989 Corvette interior fabrics.
• Dynasty Grain was used for 1990-1993 Corvette interior fabrics.
• Ventura Grain was used for 1994-1996 Corvette interior fabrics.
• Corinthian Grain was used for 1997-2013 Corvette interior fabrics.

Both of these terms are letterpress terms that describes the pushing of leather to a level not equal to the original surface. This process is accomplished with dies and counter dies and the leather is squeezed between the two of them.

Embossing represents pushing the image up above the leather.

Debossing is pushing the image below the level of the leather. Think of it this way. You are walking along and fall in a hole. That is debossing.

If your walking along and all the sudden come to a hill that is embossing. Both are effects that Mid America Motorworks uses for Corvette Apparel and Corvette Interior products to accent the Corvette Logo or design.

Embossing is used much more than debossing.

When used in conjunction with heat and pressure it will iron the fi bers of the leather to a smooth surface above (embossing) the original surface level, or below (debossing) the original surface level.
